Skull and Bones

A so-called fraternity on the Yale Campus, Skull and Bones is a favorite target of conspiracy theorists because of its tendency to produce very successful and influential figures in the United States and sometimes around the world. "Bonesmen," as members of the secret society are often called, will not, except for a few rare occaision, speak about this mysterious affiliation to the public. The success of those chosen may not be so much of a mystery since Yale is a prestigious university that promotes scholarship and public service and such an "elite" fraternity would likely choose the best of the best. This does not, however, even come close to illuminating the impact and meaning of this group of usually, though not always, successful and powerful individuals.

So What's the Big Deal?

Why should we, as American citizens, care about this bizarre occultic secret society? To put it simply, it's because many of our recent leaders have been confirmed members. If this membership shows any type of loyalty, which the extreme secrecy suggests, then the public has a right and responsibility to know about before we elect one of its members.

So What Should We Do?

Simple. Demand answers. If we are not told about a candidate's loyalties and the full extent of what their membership entails, we do not vote. In extreme cases, if the public overwhelmingly favored to do so, we could march right in and uncover the Bonesmens' activities because they are a potential threat to our freedom. Again, Public leaders are not entitiled to any type of secrecy that the public does not also agree to. Simple, yes, but perhaps this logic is too controversial.
