Frequently Asked Questions

Why is the word "government" often written with quotation marks?

When referring to the corporation that most percieve as government, it is much easier to put the word "government" in quotation marks instead of always writing out "the corporation that most percieve as government." For the sake of accuracy, I cannot pretend that our current "government" is the same government created by the Constitution. They are different systems with contrary purposes.

When was this site conceived and when did it launch?

A very general thought was floating around in my head for much of 2005, but it wasn't until May, 2006 that it began to resemble what it is now. The beginning of August marked the establishment of most of the major content areas though many areas are and will continue to be far from completion.

What inspired you to create the site and what is your inspiration now?

Originally, I found inspiration from the events of 9/11 and, at first, I thought that was important. While looking for answers to what happened, I realized it wasn't and could only be a symptom of a larger problem. Today, my inspiration is the principles upon which the country was founded. I never fail to be amazed at the wisdom behind these principles.

Who designed the graphics and how?

I created and edited the graphics and some pictures with a brilliant program from Jasc Software -- Paint Shop Pro.

Who wrote and researched the content for the pages?

I did, but some of the content will likely be contributed from other sources in the very near future.

Can I use an image or graphic from OurCivicDuty.com on my site?

Many images are from the public domain, and of those most come from government sites. If you would like to use any image that I've created specifically for this site (It's easy to tell since they're mostly the ones that aren't photos of something), then please contact me and recieve permission before you do. If you want to link to this site, you are encouraged to do so and banners are available here.

Why do you hate America? I mean, we're at war!

I love my country, but I believe that it has evolved into less than it could be. If you believe this country is good enough and unimprovable, then there is likely nothing I can say to persuade you away from your untenable, uninformed position.
